Template:Infobox examination Doctor of Metaphysics (PhD, Ph.D., or DMETA; Latin: Metaphysica doctor or doctor Metaphysica) is an academic degree which is a branch of philosophy. It is also called a Metaphysical Science Doctorate. Many academic universities teach Metaphysics under the title of “Speculative Philosophy.”[1]
The study is centered on spiritual (not necessarily religious) matters and positive thinking. The derivation of the word metaphysics comes from the greek: meta - over and beyond and physics.[1] The Department of Philosophy at the University of Georgia defines metaphysics as a branch of philosophy Which is concerned with reality and potentiality, and mind and matter.[2]
The degree is currently offered by the University of Metaphysics.[3] It is also offered by Esoteric Theological Seminary[4] The degree was previously offered by Brotherhood College in Sedalia Colorado.[5] The field of study is for doctoral students who hope to pursue a career in lecturing, teaching, counseling, healing, ministry, astrology.[3]
