Protoscholastic writing

From HandWiki - Reading time: 1 min

Protoscholastic writing re-introduced space between words into the punctuation of western languages. It replaced liturgical models starting in the 7th century and by the 14th century it was the standard. The protoscholastic mode of writing was primarily introduced for faster decoding of written texts for scholars, rather than for oral communication (the focus of liturgical models).[1]
