Office Timeline is a project management and productivity application developed by Office Timeline, a software company based in Bellevue, Washington.[1][2] The app creates summary views of Gantt charts and timelines used for client and executive reporting.[3][4][5]
The company was founded in October 2012 by two former Microsoft employees.[6][7] The software was originally designed as .NET application extension (add-in) for Microsoft Office to create project visuals as native PowerPoint slides. Major subsequent developments have included implementation of a patent pending rendering and layout engine, enterprise deployment support and integration with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel , Wrike and Smartsheet. In 2018, the company launched a web-based version called Office Timeline Online that works in the cloud.
Office Timeline requires Microsoft Windows and Microsoft PowerPoint[8] and provides simple task and milestone management functionality, and project scheduling.[9] The software is marketed as freemium software with a perpetually free version that offers basic functionally and a Plus (+) version that unlocks premium features.[10][11] The Office Timeline add-in reached 2 million downloads by 2018.[citation needed]
Initially launched under the name of Pincello, Office Timeline Online is a web app that creates high quality cross platform online timelines and Gantt charts in the cloud. The app has an instant version that functions as a temporary demo, a Free version that offers access to all the features but places limitations on data, and a Plus version that removes any restrictions. It is available for Windows and Mac OS with customization and Cloud support & backup.
