Planner 5D is an interior design software program intended for the use of persons without previous architectural knowledge. [1][2]
The project was created by the developer Sergei Nosyrev and designer Alexei Sheremetyev.[3] As a startup, Planner 5D became a resident of the Farminers incubator in October 2011.[4][5] The service was officially launched in September 2012.[6]
In March 2013, it became one of the Start Fellows laureates (a startup support project created by Pavel Durov and Yuri Milner).[7][8]
In May 2013, the developers released a native iPad app.[9]
In 2019, the software had 40 million users.[10]
Planner 5D is an HTML5-based RIA application to create room and landscape layouts ("projects"). Layout editing takes place in 2D mode, 3D visualization implies mainly viewing mode. The user can publish the finished project in the Gallery for collaboration, share it on social networks, or upload screenshots to his computer.[11][12][13][14]
The service operates on any browser. 3D graphics are displayed only in browsers compatible with WebGL. The native iPad app is compatible with iOS 5.0 or later.[15][16]
The Planner 5D API allows to embed a scheduler editor and individual projects on third-party sites using <iframe>.[17]
The settings allows full editing (adding objects from the library and change the geometry) and limited editing (rearrange the furniture in the project without changing the geometry).[18]
