Short description: Upcoming video game
UFL is an upcoming free-to-play association football video game developed and published by Striikerz Inc. The game was originally set for release in 2022 and 2023 but has since been delayed to 2024.[1][2][3]
Development
The developers describe the game's primary model as "fair-to-play" with "a skill-first approach and zero pay-to-win options".[4] Strikerz CEO Eugene Nashilov said the game's model is the company's "core principle", stating "players’ success should not depend on the number of in-game purchases or the value of donations they make".[5] Development on the game has been ongoing since 2016,[6] and is built using the Unreal Engine.[7][8]
UFL was first revealed with a teaser trailer during Gamescom in 2021. In 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo invested $40 million into the game.[9]
Licenses
UFL has partnered with FIFPro, a worldwide representative organization for over 65,000 professionals footballers.[7]
West Ham United,[10] Sporting CP,[11] Shakhtar Donetsk,[12] Borussia Mönchengladbach,[13] Monaco,[14] Besiktas,[15] Celtic,[16] and Rangers[17] have been announced as some of the licensed clubs. On 27 January 2022, UFL released its gameplay trailer, which included ambassadors Cristiano Ronaldo, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, and Roberto Firmino.[18]
