Nationalism is the sense of pride and loyalty to one's country. There are a number of words whose meanings are similar. Patriotism denotes strong attachment to one's country, but not necessarily a sense of superiority. Jingoism insists on superiority and often military aggressiveness. In some context, nationalism actually stands for sectionalism, meaning the desire of a geopolitical group to pursue its own interest, or the desire of a group of common history, language, or culture, to form a sovereign nation.[1]
