Right-Wing Political Correctness (RWPC),[1] also Conservative Correctness (CC) or Patriotic Correctness (PC),[2] is a brand of political correctness practiced by conservatives. While left-wing political correctness (LWPC) attempts to minimize offense through the (often endless) rebranding of certain words to be neutral or inclusive, RWPC rebrands terms to increase offense, increase scorn, and increase political bias. For example, homosexuality isn't RWPC; instead, we should use "unnatural vice",[3][4][5] in order to appeal to people's (here, hateful) religious beliefs over science and tolerance. (Not that conservative correctness has to be religious in nature; it can also appeal to nationalism, tribalism, or other irrational wingnutty worldviews.) All too often, people confuse this with political incorrectness due to both being against liberal political correctness, though political incorrectness is equally against both.

Origins[edit]

The first recorded uses of the term "conservative correctness" were made by Michael Fauntroy[6] and Bill Scher.[7]

Thomas Frank, in his book What's the Matter With Kansas?, claims that modern conservative politics is born out of an outraged reaction to the increasing tolerance of American society. The goal is not to roll back the social order, but merely to get people outraged and make them vote. Think of the War on Christmas or the millionfold concerns about sharia in America. Or as Frank wrote: "As culture war, the backlash was born to lose. Its goal is not to win cultural battles but to take offense, conspicuously, vocally, even flamboyantly. Indignation is the great aesthetic principle of backlash culture."[8]

LGBT[edit]

Gay/lesbian/homosexual aren't RWPC. These terms imply homosexuality is something real — and something tolerable. Instead, use unnatural vice.[3][4][5] Homosexuality is a sin — just like murder or eating shellfish!
Instead, use anti-Christian.[9][10][11] Christians don't hate gays — we just don't want their beliefs pushed on us.
Instead, use alternative lifestyle.[10][12][13] Those gays just aren't like us. Note: For some right-wingers, alternative lifestyle isn't RWPC enough — use alternative deathstyle.[14] Homosexuality reduces the surplus population kills, kids!
Instead, use scare quotes for the words "homosexual", "lesbian", or "gay".[15] For the properly RWPC mind, these aren't real things.
Transgender isn't RWPC. As with the previous example, this implies that transgender people actually exist and are not simply deluded freaks. Instead, use mental illness/disorder.[16]
Instead, use phrases like cult,[17] religion,[18] and ideology.[19]
Instead, use fad or trend.[20] Just ignore it, it'll go away eventually.
Homophobic and anti-gay aren't RWPC. These terms imply right-wingers hate gays. Right-wingers don't hate gays — we just don't want their beliefs pushed on us. This is especially true for legislation that allows businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ+ individuals or groups. Instead, use pro-family.[21][22][23] It's a fact that homosexuality destroys families, a la the Family Research Council.
Instead, use defending religious liberty.[24][25][26][27][28] It's a fact that homosexuality destroys Christianity.
Gay wedding and gay marriage aren't RWPC. These terms imply that gays can wed and that gays can marry. Instead, use scare quotes around gay "wedding" and gay "marriage".[29][30] Or call it parody marriage.[31]
Heterosexual marriage isn't RWPC either. This term implies that there is any kind of marriage other than male-female marriage. Instead, use natural marriage or traditional marriage.[32] When studied in their native habitat, humans will naturally arrange expensive alcohol-infused family gatherings before they have sex. That's just God's way.
Instead, use Biblical marriage. The benefits of this term should be obvious. Just don't mention all the Biblical divorces, or the polygamous marriages found in the Old Testament.
Gay civil rights isn't RWPC. This term implies that gays have civil rights. Instead, use having homosexuality "shoved down our throats" by the insidious gay agenda. Remember, Right-wingers don't hate gays — we just don't want their beliefs pushed on us.
They isn't RWPC. This term doesn't properly clarify that two genders and only two genders exist. Instead, say man and woman or men and women, to avoid people claiming more exists. If uncertain about the person's gender or speaking generically where an individual's gender is irrelevant, say he. They is only okay for genderless objects. Remember, gender and sex are one and the same!
Haggard's Law definitely isn't RWPC. This term implies that morally upstanding right-wingers ever have flawed morality. Instead, just ignore any cases of gay Republicans. Especially gay Republican pastors, gay Republican Congressmen, and those suggestively named sissy Log Cabin guys.
Even drag queen isn't RWPC. It doesn't properly convey that cross-dressing sexualizes children. Instead, use trans stripper. It has a more lurid set of connotations and shifts the debate to sexualization.[33]

Global warming[edit]

Climate change isn't RWPC. That's altogether too science-y. Just… don't say anything. Follow the lead of Florida Governor Rick Scott and ban "climate change" in totality because he needed a safe space for his ignorance of science.[34]
Climate scientist isn't RWPC. This implies that people who've spent their lives studying the climate could think that global warming is, you know, real. Instead, use warmist,[35][36] or better yet, alarmist.
Neither is global warming consensus. This implies that most climate scientists think that global warming is real. Instead, use warmist consensus.[35][36]
Global warming denier isn't RWPC. That's just too honest. Instead, use global warming skeptic.[37][38][39] We're just asking questions, see?
Reducing fossil fuel dependence isn't RWPC. That almost sounds patriotic! Instead, use war on coal.[40]
Climate movement isn't RWPC. Calling it a "movement" almost makes it sound like it has legitimate concerns. Instead, call it a religion.[41][42]

Jingoist[edit]

  • During the anti-German hysteria of World War I, Sauerkraut became "Liberty cabbage," Hamburgers became "Liberty steak," Frankfurters became "Liberty sausage," Dachshunds became "Liberty dogs," German measles became "Liberty measles" (you'd think they'd want to keep the one killing civilians associated with their enemy, but marketing wasn't nearly as much of a thing at the time), and German Shepherds became "Police dogs" (or in the United Kingdom, "Alsatians"). Liberty does not work that way.[note 1]
  • The rebranding of "French fries" as "Freedom fries" in the Congressional cafeteria after the French refused to support the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Subsequent extention went into "Freedom toast" for French toast.[note 2]
  • The U.S. Department of Energy has called natural gas "Freedom Gas" and "molecules of freedom".[43] Think fossil fuels are a bad idea? Well, then you obviously hate freedom too!
  • "Mediterranean" food instead of "Middle Eastern"!
  • "Crisis" or "conflict" instead of war — other mindbogglingly complex evasive terms are invented as needed. We expect "disagreement" might be next.
  • "Homicide bombing."
  • "Hard-working Americans" (also known as "normal" or "regular" Americans) — anyone who votes for the right, but is not rich enough to gain any benefit from voting for the right — so the only reason they do so is to feel "included".
  • "True American Values" or something similar to describe a specific set of wingnut beliefs.
  • "Patriotism" to the point of being nationalistic, where American culture and values are thought to be superior to every other nation's cultures and values.
  • Opposition to the burning of American flags, which many conservatives believe should be outright illegal. Often, the opposition has the emotional appeal of "soldiers died for the flag!" For a particularly head-explodey form of wingnut fury, burn a Confederate flag.
  • "Anti-American" or "un-American" to describe to those who are against policies of the U.S. government. Strangely, Texas secession movements are never really labelled this way.
  • America's Sacred Heroes, whether military members or police officers, shall never be criticized. Deflecting discussions of police brutality with the emotional "police are heroes and save lives" third-grade level argument.
    • Following the killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner by police, Fox News and right-wing media showed a lot of police apologist CC. After the killings of New York City police officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos in retaliation for the death of Garner (clearly inexcusable, to be sure), it just got worse. Many police officers showed CC by turning their backs whenever mayor Bill De Blasio, who dared suggest that police treatment of black Americans is an issue, spoke at press conferences or the officers' funerals. Classy bunch.[44]
    • Also, various police unions and organizations urged a boycott of Quentin Tarantino's Western film The Hateful Eight, after Tarantino dared speak out against police brutality at a New York City rally in October 2015.[45]
  • America doesn't have social classes. We have economic classes which are not at all the same — totally distinct — as social classes!
  • Don't you dare sit down for the national anthem. Show some respect! And don't even think about kneeling.

Liberals[edit]

Liberal is only kind-of RWPC. On the one hand, it's a very useful way to smear policies as tainted by the liberal media/academia conspiracy (see below). On the other hand, liberalism sounds too much like "liberty". Instead, call them coastal elites. They just don't understand us hard-working real Americans.
Instead, call them bleeding-heart liberals.
Instead, call them communists. You totally won't look ridiculous to people who actually know what communism is!
Progressive isn't RWPC. They're all just liberals! Instead, call them liberal. Group all liberals into one unified mass.
Democratic Party isn't RWPC. "Democratic" sounds like a good thing. But Democrats are bad, obviously. Instead, use Democrat Party. Emphasis on rat. Or even Demonrat, if you're especially spittle-flecked that day.
Calling bullshit, pointing out bigotry, or, indeed, expressing disagreement aren't RWPC. This implies that there's reasonable room to disagree with conservatism. Instead, you're "offended", leaving me free to reject all of your arguments out of hand.
Instead, call them a Social Justice Warrior or Snowflake. These are wonderful catchall terms for anybody who thinks poor, female, or brown people matter. (Anyone who whines about "SJWs", "Tumblerinas", or "Snowflakes" is most likely a perpetually-offended teenager. You have to go so out of your way to be offended by such a small microcosm of social media. Look at /r/tumblrinaction:[note 3] The way Tumblr works, you have to either follow or actively look for these types of posts.)
No longer is it ten different groups "offended" by ten different things; behold The Perpetually Offended, a carefully-cultivated superbeast of pure, permanent, irrational indignation. For some strange reason, they all tend to look like "unattractive" college-age women. Tumblr comes up very often.
If action is taken, or even suggested, call it Cancel culture and Censorship. Also use this as a RWPC term for any present-day boycott (except the good, RWPC ones aimed at shutting down wokeness and other reprehensible things).
Relatively moderate politicians (e.g. Bill Clinton or Barack Obama) aren't RWPC. A good conservative never compromises. Bipartisanship is a dirty word. Instead, call them socialist for not being conservative enough. Consider using Marxist, Leninist, and even Maoist or Stalinist when socialist isn't scary enough.[46][47] If you aren't in a red-baiting mood, consider "far-left" instead.
Black Lives Matter isn't RWPC. The name sounds like it only cares about the darkies blackies and not us! Instead, say All Lives Matter or Blue Lives Matter because it includes all the oppressed conservatives and the poor police officers that are the only ones respecting the law anymore!

Policy[edit]

Welfare isn't RWPC. That doesn't sound too bad. Instead, use free stuff or handouts. 'Cause it's a dank meme to cry "free stuff!!" without actually discussing the merits of something that nearly every other developed first-world government provides for its people.[note 4]
Instead, use entitlements. Those welfare queens think they're entitled to free stuff![note 5] In the UK, these people are referred to as “scroungers”, regardless of what welfare benefit they are claiming or why.
Universal healthcare isn't RWPC. That sounds kinda good. Instead, use socialized medicine to describe health care systems like Medicare. This term was made famous by Ronald Reagan in his 1961 record Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine. Cry "Communism" if so inclined.
Tolerance is definitely not RWPC. Conservatives aren't intolerant! Liberals are the ones destroying America! Instead, imply that their ideology is based on feels, not reals.[note 6] This is also a great place to recycle "snowflake" or "SJW" as if you thought up those terms yourself.
Articulate gays, women, or black people aren't RWPC. nope nope nope nope Instead, blame Cultural Marxism. (The biggest irony in all of this is that Cultural BolshevismWikipedia was a term exclusively employed by Nazis.)
Journalists, News, Media, and Free Press aren't RWPC. All of these have positive connotations. Yet demonizing the media is now a conservative hallmark. Instead, use "liberal media". Remember: Conservatism is under assault, and those coastal journalists are to blame.
Instead, use mainstream media. If you're really RWPC, use lamestream media. In Britain, use Remainstream media. Conservatives just don't kowtow to mainstream news, see?
Instead, call every news outlet fake news and deny everything they say.

Libertarian[edit]

  • "Libertarian" (in the U.S., at least) is the new "Independent": a label which allows people to lie to themselves about being free-thinkers as they consistently side with the GOP base. Oddly, they tend to skew even farther right, so the "embarrassed Republican" epithet isn't totally accurate.[48] There are consistent Libertarians, like DiLorenzo, but the world they describe is so scary that most libertarians pick and choose which tenets to follow. A pure libertarian society would likely result in a failed state.[49]
    • "Socially liberal". Like Göring, reach for your revolver.[50][51]
    • Thanks, right wing, for ruining the term "classical liberal".[52] Classical Liberal used to mean Hobbes, Rousseau, Kant, Locke, etc. But they cut out all the Germans and Italians and Frenchmen, and kept only the English stuff — but only from the 18th century on, so no Hobbes. But it's nice and ethnocentric, which is just how libertarian WASP boys like it, we suppose.[53] Libertarians believe that their version of liberalism is the correct one and it has been hijacked by state propagandists under the guise of a social contract.[54] (This is what neoreactionaries call "the Cathedral", or, as you might know it, modern civilization as descended from the Enlightenment.) If you believe what Heritage and Cato are putting out, every other industrialized nation in the world is "Classically Liberal", apart from the U.S., which has fallen under the bootheel of Marxism.[55] Which also doesn't exist anywhere else.[56]
  • "Job creators". There always seems to be a better job riiight across the street. (Never mind that it's ultimately consumers who create jobs, since a business can't survive without them.)
  • "Pro-business" or "business-friendly" to describe policies for lower taxes and fewer regulations.[note 7] Also, never forget to use “small business” as an excuse even though you couldn't care less about it.
  • That's not capitalism; that's CORPORATISM!!!!! Obviously if you had a free market, everybody would be farting rainbows.[57]
  • Republicans changing the names of committees in the House of Representatives from "labor" to "workforce" and removing any mention of "civil rights."
  • No one complains when the 1% form unions. Then, they become "a group of like-minded businessmen", or the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, or the Club for Growth, or the Koch-founded and funded astroturf organizations "Americans for Prosperity" and "FreedomWorks", or just joining a country club. Message: Unions are OK for us, but not for you, little people. Then it's socialism.
  • "Free market". Never get between a Libertarian and his government benefits. All the "Deregulation, competition, and the invisible hand of the free market" stuff goes right out the window when you try and do that. ("The Free Market will always take the side of consumer safety — except when it fights tooth and nail against it!"Wikipedia) The problem American consumers have is that when they see problems and want to do something to rectify them, there's a small but vocal cabal of assholes that intercede to shut that shit down.
    • It's clear that libertarians are either hypocrites or think Free Market actually is an invisible libertarian superhero. Free Market only does things libertarians like, so anytime the plurality votes for something they don't like, it's obviously the fault of jack-booted thugs or communists/socialists/liberals/SJWs.[58]
    • The very fact that "sharing economy" exists as a term is propaganda to try and allow under-regulation. You might as well say that you shouldn't have regulations on oil companies because they're just sharing their gasoline (at a price).[59]
  • "Economic calculation problem". In any industrialized libertarian society, due to economies of scale, economic planning will largely be done by only a handful of companies.Wikipedia So instead of the kind of spontaneously organized libertarian utopia described in "I, Pencil",[60] you ironically get an economy dominated by a few interlocking top-down planned economies.
  • "Independent contractor". It's no secret that corporate's attitude has always been "take our bottom line out on the employees", which means you're on salary and have to work more for the same money. Being a "contractor" means the company doesn't owe you anything. They're completely insulated from liabilities with their contracted employees, have almost zero overhead and just sit around raking in money and taking no risk. By crushing unions and forcing contracting and subcontracting, companies can shrug off much of their liability and force workers to bid against each other on work in a race to the bottom. Uber and nonsense schemes like this one are another way of siccing desperate proles on other desperate proles.
    • It has been going on for decades in nearly every industry, and these kids act like it's the Way of the Future (it's on a smartphone so it's revolutionary). Likewise, the 'sharing economy' plays into pseudo-leftist hipsters who think small businesses and "startups" aren't capitalism. By giving it another name, they make their model seem like a novel alternative, when in reality, it's the kind of economic policy that most conservatives dream about, and will undoubtedly result in nothing novel actually happening.
  • "Statist / Statism". ("A federally-operated postal service!!! Jesus, just fire up the gas chamber why don't you?")
  • "Affluenza". Poorfluenza probably wouldn't hold up as well in court.
  • "Personal responsibility". (Translates as: "I am a serf, I know my place and will obey my masters without complaint.")
  • Every Sovereign citizen or ancap that screams about "not signing a social contract" as they are wrestled to the ground outside of a traffic court.
  • Ancaps say "voluntary communities" will prevent stuff like robbery and assassination markets. Next we'll need some kind of committee to establish rules. We can call it a "Legislature". Then we need to put together a group that will enforce these rules — a sort of "Executive" body. Finally, whenever someone breaks a rule, we'll need to arbitrate a resolution. This could be some kind of "Judiciary". Once we have all three of these things, there'll be no need for a government at all.[note 8]
  • It is argued in the economics literature that the poor operate with a higher rate of "time preference" (the fancy term for instant gratification) than their wealthier counterparts. The poor, it is suggested, have a higher rate of time preference because they are more concerned about present survival than they are about saving for the future,[61] which is over-generalizing the issue already; in times of scarcity, poor households in Africa will often undertake extreme measures in the present, including depriving the family of needed calories, in order to preserve capital for the future. Austrians, Ancaps, and the Mises Institute guys like to use "time preference" as a measurement of IQ. See, "due process" and "no cruel and unusual punishment" are all well and good for smart, rich white folks, but those dusky "low-IQ" types have to be punished as soon as you catch them, like dogs, otherwise the punishment won't work as a deterrent. Because something something time preference.[62][63]

Orwellian[edit]

Pro-life[edit]

  • "Pro-life" (natch) instead of anti-abortion.
  • "Unborn baby" or "person" instead of zygote, embryo, or fetus. Sometimes they also like using the made up word "preborn", which your computer will underline in a red zigzag.
  • "Pro-abortion" or "pro-abort" instead of pro-choice.[71][72] Also, don't forget pro-death!
  • "Sidewalk Counselors" for anti-abortion protesters who stand outside of clinics and intimidate anyone going in.[73]
  • "Pregnancy Counseling" hotlines (and similar names, like "crisis pregnancy center") are often fronts for religious groups to talk pregnant women out of considering abortion. These same people are, of course, nowhere to be found once you're trying to take care of an infant as a single parent.

Racist[edit]

  • "The War of Northern Aggression", or "The War For Southern Independence." "The only alternative to slavery is government subsidy!" The only reason we had slaves is because the government helped catch the runaways! (And forced their owners to take them back, presumably… which is odd 'cause it was slaveholders who pushed for those kinds of laws, against state's rights in the North.)
  • "Urban" to mean "black", especially in such phrases as "urban voters" or "urban culture".
  • "Thug" for black men.[74]
  • "Race Realism" or "Human Biodiversity". I'm just saying that an entire race is subhuman, can you relax jeez. (See also Anti-racist is code for anti-white.)
  • "White nationalism", "white identity politics", "alt-right", and various other euphemisms for fascism.
  • So-called "free speech rallies" that consist entirely (or almost entirely) of white supremacists.
  • "Anchor baby" instead of citizen born here to immigrants.
  • "Forced association" instead of multiculturalism (the alt-right loves this).
  • "Forced diversity" to describe the inclusion of minority characters in movies that literally nobody is forcing them to watch.
  • "Economic migrants" instead of immigrants.
    • In a similar vein, "refugees" is often replaced with "migrants". 'Cause we don't want to focus on why people would want to leave a "shithole country"[75] now, do we?
  • "Exercises freedom of speech at rallies."
  • "International bankers" as a code word for Jews.
  • "Welfare queen" instead of minority women. (Even worse, this term makes no sense as most people on welfare are white, the Clinton Administration ended the practice of people getting more welfare for having more kids, and people on welfare barely have more children than those not on it. That and corporations often get plenty of welfare from the government, such as with the bailouts of the too-big-to-fail banks. "Welfare Kings" might be applicable to such types, but the phrase hasn't caught on.)
  • "Bio-Deutsche"[note 10] is a code word used by German Neo-Nazis on the net to smuggle in old Nazi-style racialism through the back-door.
  • "Migrationshintergrund"[note 11] — an awful German word that is legally defined as having at least one ancestor born outside the borders of Germany after 1949. In essence it is used to discern Schwackowiak (likely Polish ancestors who immigrated in the 19th century) from Özdemir (likely Turkish ancestors who immigrated in the 1960s) even though they are all German.
  • A foreigner living in Britain? Immigrant. (Or even a "bogus asylum seeker"!) A British person living abroad? An ex-pat (short for expatriate).
  • Describing a red-faced wingnut as a “gammon” is a racial slur. Generally the only racial slur that’s wrong, too!
  • Black Lives Matter should always be connected to critical race theory. No understanding of either term is required.
  • "Reverse racism" to describe affirmative action programs.

Religious[edit]

Tax protester[edit]

  • "Taxation is theft!" A platitude which instantly alienates people who, say, are victims of actual theft.
    • Also, point and laugh at the idea that people would donate anything to society if the government didn't use force to take it. There's absolutely no way. The rich donate even less of a portion of their income as they get richer; this is well-established.[77]
  • Calling the public option on health care the "government option" or something similar. It's the same goddamn thing.
  • Similarly, using the term "government schools" for public education. (OOH, de guv'ment!)
  • Instead of saying "Privatize Medicare and Social Security" just say "Save and strengthen entitlements!" Sounds better, right?
    • "Fiscal responsibility" or "Cutting the deficit/debt", is Beltway speak for privatizing Social Security and reallocating those payroll taxes to discretionary spending. That's why billionaires (and professional deficit scolds) like Alan Simpson, Erskine Bowles, and their bankroller Pete Peterson opposed the sequester cuts.[78][79] Those cuts reduced the deficit without taking an axe to "entitlements".
  • Referring to "smaller government" as "more effective and efficient government!"
  • The moral argument against raising the income tax is that it's the money people work for. Okay, so if you want to cut that, don't also turn around and eliminate the estate tax. That's the money that people don't work for that Washington implicitly taxes instead of the normal income. Of course, the GOP just rebranded it the "death tax" and pretended it had nothing to do with inherited wealth. Instead, they're filling the tax gap with sales taxes — slamming poor people who spend most of their wages on food and utilities.

  • Tomi Lahren being suspended from The Blaze over pro-choice comments.[80] And called a Nazi for making said comments.[81]
  • The whole Chicks shitshow.
  • David Horowitz's "Academic Bill of Rights," and other poutrage stories about supposed liberal bias in higher education regularly published by sites like Campus Reform and The College Fix. The irony of such sites is that the complaints about "liberal professors" whose critiques of Republicans, religion, "traditional America", etc. hurt their feelings become a right-wing version of the supposedly easily-offended, "politically correct", leftist college student that they despise, hence conservative correctness.
  • Atheist billboards are insensitive to Christians.[82] The other way around doesn't count, though.
  • Any media coverage that is imperfectly adulatory of Christians is anti-Christian.[83]
  • Barack Obama's family in France is "offensive" to hard-working Americans, as opposed to Donald Trump's extensive vacations when he had loudly criticized Obama for taking noticeably less time off.
  • Social conservatives like to ban books such as And Tango Makes ThreeWikipedia and Jacob's New Dress,[84] since they brand them as "politically correct"; the books advance nefarious nonspecific agendas, and the books can transform vulnerable children into teh gays and transgenders. All while the conservatives exercise their political correctness.
