“”If Gary Null hadn’t existed, Lenny would have been the Kent Hovind of anti-vaccination and woo. He is still pretty close to the Platonic idea of lunacy and crackpottery. But he is not merely fun (like Arthur D. Horn), since his cunning peddling to the most susceptible can possibly be linked to rather extensive actual harm.

Leonard Horowitz DMD (1952–) is a former dentist, public speaker, sound healer, and prolific self-help author who styles himself as "The 'King David of Natural Healing' vs. The Goliath of 'Slash, Burn and Poison Medicine'".[2] He is an adherent and influential promoter of a large range of pseudoscientific conspiracy theories about health and medicine, and is respected among factions of the far right as an authority on these topics.[3]
Horowitz has spent many years aggressively pushing the idea that vaccines were designed for genocidal purposes,[4] and that both HIV/AIDS and Ebola were manufactured as biological weapons by the U.S. government.[5][6] In this, he has been dangerously influential with some very prominent figures, such as Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam,[7][8][9] whose call for the black community to boycott vaccination was largely prompted by Horowitz's propaganda.[10]
Horowitz proclaimed in an interview with Al Jazeera that the H1N1 vaccine would cause sterility,[11] and is also known to have led Barack Obama's former pastor Jeremiah Wright astray with his misinformation.[12]
Horowitz founded the "Healthy World Organization" (HWO) as a "...successful alternative to the corrupt World Health Organization..."[13] and he sells products through his company ZeoLife whose mission statement could have come from a New Age bullshit generator: "..to celebrate the manifestation of Divinity in biology, health science, and emerging biospiritual technologies, and through our loving service, deliver the most advanced knowledge and equipment for personal and planetary purification, physical salvation, and spiritual evolution."[14]
Soon after the SARS outbreak in 2003, Horowitz began peddling his naturopathic "cure" for the virus, which he called "Urbani SARS formula",[15][16] brazenly misusing the name of deceased Italian physician Carlo Urbani who had first reported SARS to the World Health Organization and set off a massive life-saving response worldwide.[17] Unsurprisingly, Horowitz was subsequently issued with a warning letter from the FDA.[18]
Among all the other things, Horowitz is also well-known for promoting conspiratorial woo around the supposed health effects of sound frequencies in music.
Horowitz is one of the foremost promoters of the A440-tuning conspiracy theory, which he covered in a long and influential 2010 article, demonstratively titled "Musical Cult Control: The Rockefeller Foundation’s War on Consciousness Through the Imposition of A=440Hz Standard Tuning".[19] Among other things, he claims to have evidence that A440 tuning, when compared to A444 tuning, is "relatively distressing", "conflicts with human energy centers", and causes the body to vibrate "according to an institutionally imposed frequency that resonates in harmony with aggression and in dissonance with LOVE".[note 1] He also places the implementation of the tuning system with the Nazis at the beginning of WWII, despite it having been around for long before that, and despite the fact that many countries in the world (including Germany and Austria) use a different system.
Going hand-in-hand with his hatred of 440 Hz, Horowitz is perhaps most famous for promoting the frequency 528 Hz.[20] In his book on the subject,[21] he makes many grandiose claims about the number 528 and the frequency 528 Hz, calling it "the universal LOVE constant," "central to Divine creation," "linked to the heart of everything."[note 2] His evidence for 528's magic is a rapid-fire of pareidolic insanity:
Horowitz even sells a "528 musical medicine" product called OxySilver, described as "The First Manufactured 'Holy Water' Resonating at the Most Natural and Powerful Healing Frequency of 528Hz Sound and 528nm Light".[22][note 4]
Horowitz is also one of the foremost promoters of the "ancient solfeggio frequencies" (396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852), which are entirely based on numerology[note 5] and involve a bizarre misuse and redefinition of terminology (including the scale tones "ut", "re", "mi" etc. and the word "solfeggio" itself) from the solfège music education method and its precursors, to the detriment of people who search online for bona fide information about this method.
He propagates a series improbable claims surrounding these frequencies (e.g. 396 Hz "liberat(es) guilt and fear", 417 Hz "undo(es) situations and facilitat(es) change" etc.)[23] and has conducted some "additional research" which has apparently "revealed" three more frequencies (963, 174 and 285), all of which, somewhat predictably, adhere to the same numerological pattern.[23][24]
In July 2019, a semi-coherent screed on the site waronwethepeople.com,[25] authored by "DR. LEONARD G. HOROWITZ QUACK-BUSTER"[note 1] (apparently referring to himself in third person throughout the article), expressed dissatisfaction with our coverage here and made some colourful accusations, one of which was that we have been "proven to be criminally operating as a libel mill protecting Big Pharma". This rant is hardly worth commenting on, other than to warn potential readers to hold onto their brain cells (and their sides.)
