Paul Washer (1961–) is an American right-wing hellfire-and-brimstone Christian fundamentalist preacher, missionary and author. He adheres to the notion of salvation coming as a result of faith in Christ's work of atonement and of abstinence from sin; not just the former. He claims to hold to justification by faith alone (sola fide), but as a Calvinist also asserts a long litany of required behaviors without which one is not a "true" believer. He gained attention in 2003 when he gave a sermon to approximately 5,000 youth entitled "Shocking Message!" where he warned against the evils of worldly entertainment[1]. Unlike many fundamentalists, he claimed that the United States was the most wicked country on Earth due to the large number of professing Evangelicals who live a "worldly" lifestyle. He argues that most preachers today are too wishy-washy and not fundie enough, and that this is one of the many reasons why the world is in such a state of decadence. Washer even once stated that if his children were to die unsaved, he would applaud God as he cast them into Hell. Nice guy.
