Filemon Vela (Texas judge)

Filemon Bartolome Vela (1935-2004) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Vela was nominated to the Southern District of Texas by President Jimmy Carter on January 22, 1980, to a seat vacated by Reynaldo Garza; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 18, 1980, and received commission that same day. He assumed senior status on May 1, 2000. He served the Southern District of Texas until his death on April 13, 2004.^[1] Vela was succeeded in this position by Andrew Hanen.
