This measure sought to add to the current income tax by a rate of .5 percent for a period of five years in order to further pay for police protection services and equipment and supply needs in the village.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall the Ordinance providing for a half (0.5%) percent levy on income for the purpose of POLICE PROTECTION WAGES / BENEFITS, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, AND APPARATUS, for calendar years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 be passed?[3]
