Austin Wade Petersen is an American politician running for 2018 Missouri Senate Race in the Republican Party.[1] He is well known among Libertarians for his 2016 bid for presidency in the Libertarian Party and bitter rivalry with 2016's LP nominee Gary Johnson, preventing him from becoming Johnson's running mate.[2]

Early life[edit]

Austin Peterson grew on a horse farm in Peculiar, Missouri and graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Fine Arts.[3]

Career[edit]

Austin Petersen ran for president in 2016 in the Libertarian Party, coming in 2nd place behind Gary Johnson and John McAfee, founder of McAfee Inc. and creator of the antivirus software of the same name.[4]

Political Positions[edit]

Austin Petersen supports a Balanced Budget Amendment to the constitution, possibly hinting support for a Constitutional Convention. He holds that the War on Drugs was a costly mistake and that mandatory minimums need to go. He also believes Civil Forfeiture is government theft, likely because it allows corrupt law enforcement to rob people. He supports the America First idea, opposes Nation Building, and restricting the President's power in starting wars.[5]
