    John Wilkes

    John Wilkes (17 October 1725 – 26 December 1797) was a member of Parliament who supported American Patriots during Independence, and was considered by many of his peers to be a radical. He published his famous The North Briton number 45 in 1763, to which King George III responded by issuing a general warrant for his arrest.[1]

    Wilkes' writing and arrest were well known in the Thirteen colonies, and is considered to have had an impact on the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution.[2]
