Jonathan Fergus Goudeau (born December 26, 1963) is the incoming Republican state representative for District 31 for Lafayette and Vermilion parishes in southwestern Louisiana.
Goudeau won his position in a runoff contest against another conservative Republican, Gus J. Rantz (born September 17, 1979), for the right to succeed state Representative Nancy Ruth Landry, a Moderate Republican who left the legislature in 2019 to become chief of staff for Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin. Goudeau polled 8,379 votes (54 percent) to Rantz's 1,161 (46 percent).[1]
A supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, Goudeau vowed in the campaign to support conservative positions in his legislative votes. A businessman for nearly three decades, Goudeau formerly worked for nineteen years for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office. He since became the owner of Indoor Recreation Company in Lafayette.[2]
