Surrey is a county in south-east England, south of London. Much of the traditional county is now part of London, swathes of territory having been annexed to the County of London in 1888 and to Greater London in 1965. A substantial proportion of the modern administrative county of Surrey is suburbanised. It is the location of some of the most expensive real estate in Europe owing to its location on the southern fringe of London and despite being largely suburban in nature, remains heavily wooded; indeed, it is the most wooded county in Great Britain. The pleasant North Downs Hills run East - West through the county and afford some stunning views over surrounding countryside to the south and London, to the north. South of the North Downs are the Greensand Hills which include Leith Hill, the highest point in SE England. Principal towns include Reigate, Epsom, Woking, Redhill, Leatherhead, Dorking, Haslemere, Godalming and Guildford. Surrey borders with Greater London, Kent, Sussex, Berkshire and Hampshire.
