Ionics EMS is a subsidiary of Ionics, Inc., a Philippine-listed technology group. It fully owns Iomni Precision, Inc., a manufacturer of high-precision plastics; Ionics Circuits Ltd., a venture capital arm in core technologies; and Ionics Properties Inc., a real estate holding company.

The only Filipino firm listed on the Philippine and Singapore Stock Exchanges^{[citation needed]}

In September 2009, Iconics entered into a strategic IP licensing agreement with Norwegian fingerprint biometrics company IDEX ASA. The agreement provides Ionics the rights to manufacturing and sales of fingerprint sensor products based on IDEX’s patented SmartFinger technology.^{[citation needed]}

In December 2015, a UNIT of electronics manufacturer Ionics Inc. has teamed up with global technology giant IBM to develop high-tech products that ride on the Internet of things (IoT) using cloud, mobile and big data analytics. Ionics-EMS will work with IBM to build a platform for the development of cloud-based apps for clients on Bluemix via the IBM Internet of Things Foundation.^{[citation needed]}
