    The 1998 Illinois Fighting Illini football team represented the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a member of the Big Ten Conference during the 1998 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by second-year head coach Ron Turner, the Fighting Illini compiled an overall record of 3–8 with a mark of 2–6 in conference play, placing in a four-way tie for seventh in the Big Ten. The team played home games at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois.
