Schager enrolled at the University of Hawaii in 2021. As a freshman, he appeared in six games and was the team's starting quarterback in three of those games. As a sophomore, he became the team's regular starting quarterback,[2][3] completing 221 of 400 passes for 2,348 yards and 13 touchdowns.[1]
Schager entered the 2023 season as the team's clear starter at quarterback.[4][5][6] As of October 15, Schager ranked fifth in the nation in passing yardage, having completed 184 of 290 passes (63.4%) for 2,088 yards with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions.[7] He entered the transfer portal on December 6, 2023 but withdrew days later.
