Al-Hussein Al-Barbouchi

Al-Hussein Al-Barbouchi is a Moroccan political figure and the founder of the Popular Movement (Mouvement Populaire) party in Morocco, and one of the companions of King Hassan II.

Al-Hussein Al-Barbouchi, alongside leaders such as Al-Mahjoubi Ahrdan, Dr. Al-Khatib, Embarek Al-Habil Al-Bakay, Al-Warzazi, Al-Hassan Al-Yusi, and others, played a significant role in the Popular Movement. They contributed to the inclusion of Hajj Idris Al-Basri into the movement, which later led to the establishment of branches in various Moroccan regions, including the Al-Rahamna/Ibn Jarir region around 1963, alongside Hajj Kabour, who also joined the movement.

Furthermore, Al-Hussein Al-Barbouchi's position in the Peasant Chamber afforded him the opportunity, as part of a delegation, to visit West Germany and its neighboring East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent reunification of the two Germanys.

Tragically, Al-Hussein Al-Barbouchi was murdered under mysterious circumstances. It is believed that he was killed in the Mamoura forest near Rabat, where he was tied to a car and dragged along the road until his death. To this day, the exact details of what transpired and his precise whereabouts remain unknown.

There is a prevalent belief that he was targeted by the Istiqlal Party and individuals seeking to overthrow the monarchy and establish a republic in Morocco, such as Allal Fassi, Ofqir, and Dlimi. According to accounts, Al-Hussein was allegedly betrayed by a person named Wald Barrada, who was from his tribe, Wlad Ibrahim, in Al-Rahamna, and had been trusted by Al-Hussein. Wald Barrada was said to have been staying in Al-Hussein's house.

Additionally, it is worth noting that Al-Hussein Al-Barbouchi was the grandson of Ahmad ibn al-Bashir al-Rahmani al-Barabushi, who held the position of Pasha of Tiznit in 1921-1934 and commanded the honorable storehouse in Sous. He was born in al-Rahamna in 1873, and his family, the Barabish clan, was known for its loyalty to the Alawite sultans and its notable members, such as Muhammad ibn Hamo al-Barabushi, Qadi al-Rahmanah during the time of Mawla Abd al-Rahman ibn Hisham, and the co-faqih Muhammad Al-Maati bin Muhammad Al-Mahdi Al-Barboushi, Al-Qadi Al-Arabi bin Alal Al-Barboushi, among others. Ahmad ibn al-Bashir al-Rahmani al-Barabushi passed away in 1934.
