Antony Muchui Manyara (born October 7, 1993), is a Kenyan politician, architect, and a student leader. Manyara has attained widespread recognition in the media as the chairman of the University of Nairobi Students’ Association (UNSA) and Kenya University Students’ Organization (KUSO).[1][2]
Born and raised in Tigania East, Meru County, Manyara attended six different primary schools before graduating from St. Aloysius Primary School where he served as the head boy. Manyara attended Meru School for his secondary school studies and graduated in 2013 with a score of A-minus. In 2014, Manyara founded Mantox Meru Theatre, a program that gave high school graduates a chance to exercise their creative abilities.[3] In 2015, he joined the University of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He graduated in 2019 with a second-class upper division. In 2020, he went back to the University of Nairobi to pursue a degree in Law.
In 2018, Manyara was elected as the chairperson of the University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA). Under his tenure, he orchestrated the Change the Narrative campaign that focused on rebranding the image of University of Nairobi students from rowdy to law-abiding. In recognition of his leadership efforts, Manyara has won several accolades from national and regional bodies.
In 2019, Manyara was elected as the inaugural chairman of Kenya University Students’ Organization (KUSO). He won the elections for the same organization in 2020 and 2021.[4]
In October 2021, Manyara was elected as the chairperson of the East African Students Union (EASU).[5]
Outside of politics, Manyara is a practicing architect, a businessman, and a miraa farmer.[6]
