John Lee Dumas is an Americanpodcaster, internet personality and entrepreneur.[1][2][3] He is the founder and host of the award-winning podcast, Entrepreneurs on Fire!.[4][5] John Lee Dumas is widely regarded as one of the best viral entrepreneur podcasters in the United States,[6] who started his entrepreneurial career in 2012 and until 2019, has generated over $16 Million in revenue through his podcasts.[7][8]
John Lee Dumas was born and raised in Maine, United States. He went to Massabesic High School and then, went to Providence College on an ROTC scholarship to get his Bachelors of Arts degree in 2002. After graduating, he was commissioned in the US Army as an officer. During his 4 years of active duty, he served 18 months in Iraq. At the age of 23, Dumas became the Armor Platoon leader and was responsible for men and tanks. After that, he served 4 years in the Army Reserves and went on to become a civilian at the age of 26.
After serving in the army, John Lee Dumas struggled to find his next goal. He tried his hand at Law school and dropped out in the first semester. Later he joined John Hancock Life Insurance company in Boston. After working for two years with the organization, he decided to quit and took a commercial real estate job, which too, didn’t last more than a year.[9][10]
After spending a lot of time in his car, commuting during the jobs and having no interest in radio, John Lee Dumas started listening to podcast interviews and instantly fell in love with their free and inspiring content.[11][12][13]
At the age of 32, John Lee Dumas decided to start his own podcast. The distinguishing feature of his podcast was that it was a 7-day-per-week podcast where he interviewed several successful entrepreneurs. Despite not generating any revenue for the first nine months, he still remained confident and loyal to his listeners and his work.[14] Only after the ninth month, since earning his first profit, it has grown and generated over $16 million in revenue with more than 1 Million monthly listeners.[15] As of 2019, his podcast has done more than 2000 episodes.[16][17][18][19]
After the success of his podcast, Dumas has started a free Podcaster course which teaches everything one needs to know to start their own podcast.[20][21]
