Hypertensive heart disease is any of a number of complications of arterial hypertension that affect the heart. It is one of the most common causes of death in western societies.

Symptoms[edit | edit source]

• fatigue
• irregular pulse
• swelling of feet
• dyspnea
• weight gain
• nausea
• shortness of breath
• difficulty sleeping flat in bed
• bloating
• greater need to urinate at night ^{[1] [2]}

Conditions that can be caused by hypertensive heart disease[edit | edit source]

• left ventricular hypertrophy
• coronary heart disease
• congestive heart failure
• hypertensive cardiomyopathy
• cardiac arrhythmias
