Overview[edit | edit source]

There are no echocardiography/ultrasound findings associated with melanoma. However, an ultrasound may be helpful in the diagnosis of complications of melanoma which include metastasis and invasion of the local tissue.

Ultrasound can be a useful and cost-effective tool in the staging of melanoma.^[1]
Ovarian metastatic lesion on ultrasound can have a solid appearance with rich vascularization. It can help in differentiating between primary ovarian cancer and ovarian melanoma metastases.^[2]
Ocular ultrasound can detect extrascleral extension in choroidal melanoma.^[3]
