Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of POEMS syndrome include increased serum VEGF level, increased number of thrombocytes, increased number of erythrocytes, elevated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein content, increased number of leukocytes, low levels of IgG lambda or IgA lambda M-protein in the serum, and increased number of plasma cells in the bone marrow.
Laboratory Findings[edit | edit source]
Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of POEMS syndrome include:
- Increased number of thrombocytes[1][2][3]
- Increased number of erythrocytes[1][2][3]
- Elevated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein content[2]
- Increased number of leukocytes[3]
- Low levels of IgG lambda or IgA lambda M-protein in the serum[3]
- Increased number of plasma cells in the bone marrow[3]
- Increased serum VEGF level[4]
- Elevated levels of antitiroglobulin antibody and antithyroid peroxydase antibody[5]
