Synaptic gating

From Wikidoc - Reading time: 1 min

Synaptic gating is the ability of neural circuits to "gate" inputs by suppressing inappropriate synapses. With other words, it is a mechanism for excluding synaptic input.

Some recent studies claim that synaptic gating also can be a mechanism for opening gates that are closed, allowing signals to enter.[1]
