Elections in Connecticut |
---|
The 2024 Connecticut House of Representatives election was held on November 5, 2024, alongside the 2024 United States elections.[1] Primary elections took take place on August 14, 2024. Democrats gained a two-thirds majority in the state house, and along with holding their Senate majority, were able to achieve a supermajority in both chambers of the state legislature.[2] This allowed them to override any veto by governor Ned Lamont.[3][4]
Eleven incumbents did not seek re-election.[5]
Two incumbents, both Stamford Democrats, were defeated in the August 14th primary election.

Incumbent one-term Democratic state representative Anabel Figueroa ran for re-election against Jonathan Jacobson, a member of the Stamford Board of Representatives.
Figueroa faced criticism for some of her socially conservative stances, including her opposition to abortion.[28][29] She later gained controversy for anti-semetic remarks she made about her opponent, stating "The Hispanic vote is going to determine on August 13th who will win to represent or who will continue to represent you. We cannot permit a person who is of of Jewish origin to represent our community.", in reference to Jacobson, who is Jewish.[30] Jacobson went on to easily beat Figueroa.
