The Bangladesh Premier League 2025, also known as Dutch-Bangla Bank BPL T20 2025 for sponsorship reasons,[1] is the eleventh season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a top-level professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh which is organized by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).[2] The tournament began on 30 December 2024 and will end on 7 February 2025.
The 2025 season will clash with the Big Bash League, SA20, Super Smash and International League T20.[3] There were uncertainties in this season after a sudden change of government in Bangladesh, since a few of the franchises may not be available in this season due to the aftermath of that incident.[4]
In September 2024, the ownership rights of the Dhaka franchise were acquired by Shakib Khan's Remark-Herlan Group.[5] Later on, its name was changed into Dhaka Capitals.[6][7] Comilla Victorians is replaced by Durbar Rajshahi.[8] Chattogram Challengers is renamed as Chittagong Kings.
The players' draft was held on 14 October 2024.[9][10][11][12][13]
The official theme of BPL 2025 is Esho desh bodlai, prithibi bodlai (lit. 'Let's change the country, change the world'). The theme mainly recognizes the July Revolution which had occurred in July–August 2024 & also manifests the changing Bangladesh.[14]
The theme song of BPL 2025 is "Elo BPL" composed by Bangladeshi singer Muza, featuring Raef al Hasan Rafa & rapper Hannan Hossain Shimul. Some lyrics of the song were written by the Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.[15]
The mascot of BPL 2025 is Dana 36,[16] which is a peace beloved pigeon which has 36 feathers. The number 36 also refers to July 36 of Bangladesh, the popular non-existent date when authoritarian ruler Sheikh Hasina resigned & fled the country amidst Student–People's uprising on 5 August.
The opening music fest was named "Celebrating The Festival of Youth" that occurred in Dhaka, Sylhet & Chattogram on 23, 25 & 28 December respectively.
In the Dhaka music fest , some famous singers such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (Pakistan), Raef al Hasan Rafa , Xefer, Muza, Sanjoy & rapper Hannan Hossain Shimul sang. Also band Miles attended the music fest. In Sylhet music fest, some famous singers such as James with his rock band Nagar Baul, Asif Akbar, Muza, Sanjoy & Tosiba attended the music fest. In Chattogram music fest, some famous singers such as Habib Wahid, Fuad al Muqtadir with his band Fuad & Friends, Raef al Hasan Rafa, Muza & Sanjoy attended the music fest.
