Controversy

[edit]

In 2020, Laycon won Best New Artist[6] in all of Africa, and was celebrated by his fans on social media. In 2019, Eddy Kenzo won Best African Entertainer Of The Year,[7] which was received with controversy criticizing the fairness of the award. In 2017, Yemi Alade won big,[8] and left fans debating about her alleged rivalry with songwriter and actress Tiwa Savage, on "Who's Mama Africa".
