Attock Jail is a prison located in Attock, Punjab, Pakistan.[1][2]
It was established in 1905 during the British India period to incarnate people in mutiny.[3][4] The first Inspector General of Prisons at Attock Jail was C. Hathaway, a British officer.[5]
The prison complex comprises a main building spread over 17 acres, a residential colony for staff on 26 acres, and agricultural land covering 22 acres, along with two additional acres of barren land.[6]
As of 2023, Attock Jail, designed to accommodate 539 inmates, currently houses 804, exceeding its official capacity.[7] The facility is among the 40 operational prisons in the Punjab.[8]
