Benjamin Wixson (born November 10, 1985) is an American musician hailing from the punk music scene of Detroit, Michigan.

Early life[edit]

Wixson developed a passion for music at an early age[1], setting the stage for his future contributions to the regional music community as a promoter, bassist[2], and guitarist.

Career[edit]

Wixson was an underground concert promoter [3][4] and local musician. After founding several regionally celebrated bands, Wixson became a founding member of Cinematic Sunrise, a musical project with Craig Owens that emerged in the mid-2000s. The band, known for its melodic and emotionally charged sound, quickly gained a following in the alternative music scene. Wixson departed from the band just prior to their debut EP, "A Coloring Storybook and Long Playing Record."

Collaborations[edit]

Beyond his work with Cinematic Sunrise, Wixson expanded his musical footprint as a bassist and guitarist through collaborations with various bands. In the mid-2000s, He toured with We Are The Union during the Who We Are album cycle,[5] and then with the Swellers just prior to their signing with Fueled By Ramen. Ben also spent several years playing with Frank White[6], and The A-Gang, which was co-founded by Rich Tschirhart of The Suicide Machines and Nick Gigler of Mest.[7][8][9]

After Frank White and The A-Gang disbanded, Wixson formed Young Hunger with Ryan Collins of the Swellers[10][11], releasing Wear Me Down in 2017[12]. In 2021, Wixson co-founded shoegaze band, Bend, with Break Anchor vocalist, Kyle Green.[13] In late 2022, Wixson reformed Frank White to release their first record in almost 10 years, Return of Wolf.
