The Spanish Colonial era of the History of Mexico, as part of the Spanish colonial empire.

Colonial Mexico was the center of the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Nueva España) — From initial 16th century expeditions and the conquest of Tenochtitlán (1521), through the centuries, until the Mexican War of Independence (1810–1821) was won in 1821.
