Competent harbour authorities

In the UK a Competent Harbour Authority (CHA) is body charged with providing navigation aids and pilotage into and within a maritime harbour. They are governed by statute law (currently the Pilotage Act 1987) and are regulated by Harbour Revision Orders (HRO) approved by the relevant minister of the Department of Transport (or its successors)
