Concubines

From Wikipedia - Reading time: 1 min

A concubine is an oldfashioned term for a woman who lives with and has sexual relations with a man but is not in a marital relationship with him. A concubine is comparable to a man's wife, however she generally has lower status than his wife or wives. Historically, concubines have often been slaves. Though technically different, the words mistress and concubine are sometimes used interchangeably, especially in historical documents.
