Articles relating to the Counts of Malta, feudal rulers of the islands of Malta and Gozo. For simplicity, the category will include all feudal rulers of Malta, regardless of the title they used. From 1091 to 1530, the County was part of first the County of Sicily and then the Kingdom of Sicily. Several of Sicily's rulers personally ruled the County, while others granted the fiefdom to members of the nobility. In 1392, the County was elevated to a Marquisate. The formal title was in use until 1429. The County ceased to exist in 1530, when Hospitaliers gained cointrol of Malta.
