Family murders are:
- Mass murders (four or more victims in a single location around the same time) where the victims are predominantly members of the same family, of more than one generation, or;
- Triple murders where the victims are parents and one of their children, and
- The perpetrator(s) is/are either unknown or not (a) family member(s).
