This category lists those municipalities in the U.S. state of New Jersey that are no longer in existence, due to creation of new municipalities from the territory of the now-defunct municipality, or due to its annexation by another municipality. Municipalities that changed their form of government but retained their identity (such as Essex County municipalities that changed their type of government in the 1970s to take advantage of federal revenue sharing policies) should not be included here or in any of the subcategories.
