Governments in exile during World War II

From Wikipedia - Reading time: 1 min

This category contains sub-categories and articles about governments in exile as political groups or organisations that claimed to be a country's legitimate government during the Second World War, but for various reasons were unable to exercise their legal power, and instead resided in foreign countries. Governments in exile operated under the assumption that they would one day return to their native country and regain power.

Governments in exile existed because of the wartime occupation. During the German expansion of the Second World War, numerous European governments and monarchs were forced to seek refuge in the United Kingdom, rather than face certain destruction at the hands of the Nazis.
