Lattice field theory

From Wikipedia - Reading time: 1 min

This regularization of quantum field theory places it on a lattice making it amenable to numerical simulations and allowing for calculations of non-perturbative physics that cannot otherwise be done. These techniques are often applied to quantum chromodynamics to calculate hadron properties from first principles. These can then be compared to measurements from collider experiments to test the Standard Model.
