Local government areas of metropolitan Melbourne. As a group they have no special administrative status, but are grouped as a subcategory of local government areas of Victoria for convenience. Melbourne currently has 31 LGAs: 27 cities and 4 shires.

These local government areas are subdivided into suburbs. This term is used for postal areas in Australia, and the whole of metropolitan Melbourne is divided into suburbs, including the city centre. See Category:Suburbs of Melbourne.
