Mountains under 1000 metres

From Wikipedia - Reading time: 3 min

Mountains by height
< 1000  →  1000+  →  2000+  →  3000+  →  4000+  →  5000+  →  6000+  →  7000+  →  8000+

  • Definitions — whilst there is no universally accepted definition of a mountain and hence the lower limit elevation for this category, the following guidelines are offered in order to provide some consistency whilst respecting differing views around the English speaking world:
  • Europe: 600 metres (2,000 feet)* − (this is the official definition in the UK and Ireland, equivalent approximately to 2,000 feet).
  • North America and South America: 1,000 feet (300 metres)* − (the old official definition of the USGS, albeit now defunct and not superseded)
  • Elsewhere: follow local practice for English-speaking countries, or minimum 600 metres elsewhere
  • Note: Please discuss any additions or changes to the above criteria on the talk page.
