New York State Heritage Areas

From Wikipedia - Reading time: 1 min

The eighteen Heritage Areas across New York State recognize a location's unique contribution to the history and culture of the state. Each site is administered locally, with support from the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The nature of each Heritage Area varies. Some cover a small historic district whereas others encompass a large geographic area. Each Heritage Area generally has a Visitors Center with exhibits relating to the location and a guide book for people to explore further.
