New Zealand Māori people

From Wikipedia - Reading time: 2 min

People belonging to the Māori indigenous people of New Zealand, generally believed to have arrived from eastern Polynesia between 800 and 1300. There has been considerable intermarriage with later immigrants, but people with any Māori ancestry may consider themselves to be Māori, by custom and law in New Zealand. The category does not include Cook Island Māori, who can be found at Category:Cook Islanders.

Others may be found in the Māori-language Wikipedia.

The primary break-down for this category is Category:New Zealand Māori people by waka, iwi, hapū or whānau. People in one of those categories should not normally be in this category.
