It's assumed that the huge majority of Australian photographers have carried out some photography in Australia, so this category simply subsumes Australian photographers as a subcategory; Australian photographers are not additionally listed individually below.

As for non-Australian photographers, they are listed if they have done a substantial amount of work in Australia (at a minimum, one book devoted to Australia) or if their work in Australia is of unusual historical or other significance. Non-Australian photographers who have merely made short visits to Australia and had miscellaneous photographs published should not be specified below.
