Cities and towns in the Mexican state of Hidalgo.
According to Article 20 of the Organic Municipal Law of the State of Hidalgo,[1] the state classifies its settlements as follows:
- Ciudad (city): More than 25,000 inhabitants.
- Pueblo (town): More than 10,000 inhabitants.
- Villa (village): More than 5,000 inhabitants.
- Comunidad (community) or congregación (congregation): More than 500 inhabitants.
- RancherÃa (hamlet): Fewer than 500 inhabitants.
