This category consists of larger area meetings of Quakers— members of the Religious Society of Friends— that meet once a year. They are in some ways like denominations, and for many years were (and often still are) the largest Quaker body that a local body takes part in, but there are now some larger Quaker organizations. In this way, yearly meetings can resemble a presbytery of the presbyterianism system of church polity. Quaker yearly meetings are often named for the area they cover.
