Soviet Union at the Olympics

The Soviet Union competed in the Olympic Games from 1952 to 1988. In 1992, a Unified Team from twelve of the fifteen former republics of the USSR competed at the Summer Olympics, and seven republics were represented in a unified team at the Winter Olympics. From 1994 onwards, the USSR was succeeded by the Russian Federation.
