Water resources management

Water resources management is the use of structural measures - such as dams, canals or treatment plants - and nonstructural measures - such as pricing, standards or permits - to control natural and human-made freshwater resources systems - such as rivers, lakes, artificial reservoirs, wetlands and groundwater - for beneficial uses. Uses of water include agricultural, industrial, household and recreational activities as well as the preservation of ecosystems.
