Darband (دربند) is a tehsil (an administrative subdivision) of Mansehra District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It was created as a separate tehsil in late August 2017 out of three union councils until then part of Oghi Tehsil: Darband itself, Nika Pani and Shanaya.[1] Darband once the Capital of State of Amb which was disestablished in 1969.
Darband's climate is classified as warm and temperate. Darband has a significant amount of rainfall during the year. This is true even for the driest month. Köppen and Geiger classify this climate as Cfa. The average annual temperature in Darband is 18.2 °C (64.8 °F). Annually, approximately 1,152 mm (45.4 in) of precipitation descends.[2]
Darband used to called Amb state. Different Pashtun tribes live there. Famous personalities are Zar Gul, Zareen Gul, Raja Bashir(Late), Zulfiqar Khan, Raees Khan Tanoli (Columnist) and others
