As the route is yet to be fully electrified, it is hauled by an Itarsi-based WAP-7 locomotive from Gorakhpur up to Ahmedabad Junction. Then it is hauled by a Sabarmati-based WDP-4D locomotive for the remainder of the journey until Okha.
