Kayalar (Kurdish: Barlatê; Syriac: Barlat) is a village in the Gercüş District of Batman Province in Turkey.[2] The village is populated by Kurds of the Reman tribe and had a population of 111 in 2021.[1][3]
Barlat (today called Kayalar) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Assyrians.[4] In 1915, there were ten Syriac Orthodox families.[5] Amidst the Sayfo, some Assyrians were killed whilst some survived.[6] By 1987, there were no remaining Assyrians at Barlat.[7]
